The Green Party of Arkansas is now actively collecting signatures for our ballot access drive.  The GPA needs to collect 10,000 valid voter signatures.  Anyone who wants to petition for the Green Party should send us a message on our facebook page, Green Party of Arkansas.  The party has now about 1,000 signatures.

August 12, 2013  GPA now has collected at least 2,235 signatures.

September 15, 2013  GPA has been working hard on ballot access, and we now have about 10,700 signatures in hand. However, this is not enough to fulfill our goal, because we need to collect at least 14,000 signatures in order to be sure that at least 10,000 of them will be verified by the Secretary of State’s office as being valid registered voters.  Our drive has been greatly helped by the volunteer work of two dedicated Greens from out of state, Audrey Clement and Bill Kreml.  Audrey and Bill spent a week in Arkansas collecting signatures and the two of them got over 1,500 signatures for the Green Party of Arkansas.  Audrey is from Arlington Virginia and Bill is from Chicago, Illinois.  By the way, these are two distinguished people, Audrey has a PhD in Political Science, and Bill is a retired professor of Political Science and the author of nine books on American politics.  The Green Party Ballot access drive will continue through October 22nd.

October 21, 2013  GPA has successfully concluded the 5th ballot access drive.  Today, Mark Jenkins turned in 14, 334 signatures on our petition, which should be more than enough to succeed.  Thanks to everyone who contributed to our success!

November 6, 2013 – Today the Green Party of Arkansas was declared a legal political party in Arkansas!  The Secretary of State announced that the party had collected enough signatures to be able to place candidates on the ballot in the November general election to be held in 2014.  The party will hold it’s nominating convention on February 8th, 2014 in Little Rock at a place to be announced.
